Steven Tyler - Does the Noise in my Head Bother You? A Rock ‘N’ Roll Memoir

Steven Tyler - Does the Noise in my Head Bother You? A Rock ‘N’ Roll Memoir
 With David Dalton

Never have I ever read an autobiography where the voice of the celeb comes through as loud and clear as it does here. Steven Tallaricos’ voice comes screaming through and that’s a good thing.

So often celebs seem to mail it in and the actual author does all the work. That just didn’t seem to be the case here. Steven Tyler acknowledges he was rambling into a tape recording but David Dalton manages to capture Tyler’s voice like no one else has done.

It was an entertaining read. I could imagine Steven narrating the book. Often it’s difficult for me to do that but “Does the Noise in my Head?” makes it easy. The Demon of Screamin’ - I’ve always loved that moniker- screams his way through this book and it made me smile.

I always hope to have the kind of experience I had with this book and so often, while the books might be fun and informative, they just don’t sound like the celeb, As a result, they read more like biographies than memoirs in many cases.

“ The Noise in my Head” has a physical characteristic that I find amusing. Removing the cover reveals a slick binding covered with his photos (naturally). But holding it without the cover feels like a school textbook, which is kind of amusing.

I had a good time reading this. No, it’s not great writing but it does sound like Tyler. Many of the stories he relates are not just funny but hilarious.

There is a lot of drug use in the book. But what did I expect? It is Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and he is one of the Toxic Twins. Tyler and his cronies spent so much money on drugs he could have kept the economy of a small country running.

People will think of rock n roll when they think of Tyler but I wonder if they will know the songs. They might know “Dream On” because of his time on American Idol but, sadly, that might be it.

“Does the Noise in my Head Bother You?” is a fun read. Tyler is open and as we found out from American Idol Steven Tyler can be witty. This wit is easily transferred to the written page.

Some of the best parts of this were the beginnings of Aerosmith and his relationship with Joe Perry. It seems that the love of Steven Tylers’ life is indeed Joe Perry. Tyler has needed Perry more than perhaps any woman to have entered his life.

This is one “ Rock ‘N’ Roll Memoir” that you should read if you can find the book on sale. It’s a fun, easy read and is a book that sticks out on your bookshelf.
